Caving in Jackson County
ALERT!
As of February 2014:
Due to the damage to bat populations caused by the fungal disease, white-nose syndrome, the U.S. forest service has issued a moratorium on caving in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Caves in Jackson County are mostly on private property and those in the forest Service are protected due to white-nose syndrome, a deadly disease that affects North American bats.
